Help on value error

Respected Sir,

I have a data file where I type so may data named salary2014-15.xls and the file have so many sheets aprl2015, may2015, june2015, ...... and also a sheet payslip


now in payslip sheet at column g2 I entered my file name i.e. salary2014-15.xls and in column c12 in entered sheet name i.e. june2015, in column c8 I typed a employee name Pabitra Roy after ward I want to copy data from sheet june2015 into payslip sheet as per different column. I entered the following formula but it shows error #value.

formula :
=INDEX("["&G2&".xls]"&C12&"!$A$6:$B$42",MATCH($C$8,"["&G2&".xls]"&C12&"!$B$6:$B$42,0"),2)

If kindly help me to resolve the error I would be grateful to you

If you are retrieving the data from same workbook then check with attached.. or share or sample file.

Hi,

You just need to change the ranges.

=INDEX(INDIRECT("'"&C12&"'!$A$6:$a$42"),MATCH(C8,INDIRECT("'"&C12&"'!$b$6:$B$42"),0))
