Anyone else use "spread sheets" to evaluate stocks?
I am trying to use formula m=(x1x2)/(y1y2) and as simple as the formula is to extract it from various selective numbers takes some focus and can be confusing when automated. Anyone else use that formula?
I did not even start doing Fibonacci...
if column A has only randomly lets say 1 and 0 , how can i determine what is the closest pattern to put into column B. Is the pattern of 1 and 0, or every other or every 3, or some other pattern?
Any formula that can go into a cell?
Thanks
A1 is the minimum % that should be shown from column C which results are displayed on E. So if C says .5% and a1 is .07% then it will excluse that row. Which C references column A
A2 similar to A1 but looks at column B in what should be displayed which seems if their is a big enough gap...
The file was ore confusing which took me time to try and simplify it.
Their are more but this is a basic one.
The blue cells can be edits to mix and match to find best %
But as you see doing it manually takes a long time and spreading it out also takes a long time and a lot of processing.
Thanks
Can excel or how can excel look at various formulas to find the best result.
instead of laying out a big chart of 100000 results and scan though them, anyway to make a row of a few hundred or less to scan thousands of formulas for the best result without showing every possibility on screen but...
I figure this would confuse many.
If it goes up 25% 3 shares at $3 at a total of $9 as you state can not reach 10. which would get 2.25 to be a total of 5.25
What I get for an answer is 20 shares
since you would need 20 shares at $3 which would be $30 which 25% gain would be 7.5% and with the...
Don't know if I should post it on challenge, excel question, or this but I guess I'll post it here.
I am getting confused in how to properly present it despite the answer is clear. For example
If 2 stock(A) are worth$10(B) and it goes down to $2(C) that is a 80% loss(D)
But if it goes up and...
Don't confuse me LOL
I find programmers to be like English translators. I don't expect a professional English translator to be the best story telling author. Just like I dont expect a programmer to be a creative designer. Sure their are the rare exceptions. Programs for Linux is a good...
Besides excel which other languages do you know how to use?
Would have been good if excel can handle things outside of excel to edit files and such.
I would say which one is as easy and very similar but that would be an opinion question so asking what people use seems more solid. Odd programs...
Thanks
Peter "Name Manager" i dont know that trick. So I had to go with shrivallabha which worked.
I dont mind the conversation.
Which the name manager would explain why nothing was working for my last post. I will probably use substitute 255 times which would take more power but would do...
not working well or I am just confused.
Sorry I have excel 2007 (I like the quick options at the top than the tabs)
I will try to combine cells and find it all within 1 cell for the formula to be
=LEN(a1)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(a1,"s",""))
Thank anyway
if the cells says
sosos
psspp
xxxx
(and another 100 cells)
Is their one formula to give you the number of how many "s" or any other character to reference another cell all the cells have, which is 5?
Thanks
I have MS excel 2003 which cant handle concat to freeze.
kingsoft 2011 doesnt have concat.
I use the online of MS excel and google sheet which can handle concat but does not oddly seem to work.
well at least it helped someone else out.
Both are interesting.
The examples I gave was simple, but I was thinking of more like all of the 255 characters to be used in the mix. Char 1 to be changed for 237 or 1 with , or something else instantaneously.
I assume bosco_yip example I would need to type SUBSTITUTE 255 times.
And for...
remember those decoder rings?
To have (example. since row 1 & 2 can be something else.)
row 1= 1 2 3 4...
row 2= a b c d...
if the rows were
cell
A B
123... abc...
231... bca...
159... aej...
What can formula in cell B be to get the answer?
thanks
Nifty trick.
wow it took 6 formulas to get it done and even then I don't get it but it work. LOL
This cant be well known and you must have come up with it?
Cool
Within a single cell has multiple lines within which I want to extract a row, ex: 3rd row.
At first I thought of using =find("^P", a1, 1) But that did not work. ^P meaning paragraph since it works in search/replace. Each cell is completely different.
Cell can say
random sentence 1
random...
You might be right, but I cant say without solid evidence when 2 experts say otherwise, but to see test done to be sure which is best. But I dont think iferror can beat at least example 1 below.
I cant test or remember off the top of my head how I did it since its been years ago how I did it...
That is what a expert MVP MS Excel author ExcelIsFun says when using it with arrays
If not I guess every expert has their own view.
Or maybe I am not understanding him.
As for the formula above you can use a helper cell.
=if(a1="","",VLOOKUP(A1 , B1:C10 , 2 , FALSE))
I did a sheet that used...
If your formula is long and has a lot of them an Iferror would calculate 2 times longer. Since once to check the formula if it has an error and another to do the formula.
Best be creative to use other alternatives like IF function or other functions.
or better yet mess with the options to...
