Why need 'lookup'?
One possible way ...
Just write name!

hi vletm,

The reason for vba is to edit the record in master sheet and retrieve when required.

Posting a similar sample excel workbook for your reference. In this sheet, u can edit, retrieve and view... looking for a similar exercise in the previous enclosed excel workbook.

Please refer and suggest.

Thank you

hmm ...
the 1st hope was the file needs to fill in the required boxes in the master sheet.
now, the 2nd case includes possible to edit.
...Those are different 'hopes'.
Would the 3rd case be that 'master' sheet data also should '
save' to other sheets?
It would be nice to know before continue...

yes...

i am actually looking for a file like 2nd case. I type all data in master sheet, it collects the data and saves in next sheet.

When required i type the name (or number), then i am able to view the complete data with edit option. Therefore, i would be glad to know the way i can sort out my first workbook.

Yes ... or number too.
Okay ... with this version You can 'search' with 'name' or 'number'.
Just write to those cells and press <ENTER>.
If You modify any of other cells
then modified values will update automatic to other sheets too.
Be careful with 'ending spaces' with 'Names' (like Abbas has 'space' in the end)

thanks for the file.

But i want to update interview status, which is enclosed in the 1st upload.

2nd attachment is only reference for you, it gives you vba code to understand how to work out.

I tried but somewhere the formula goes wrong. Just wanted to understand where am i going wrong.

... Your 1st upload has ONLY one data row!
It is not so good to make any tests!
That's why I used 2nd upload!
... and I thought that You could make needed modifications ... I thought!
You wrote that something goes wrong ...
a) with Your modifications? That's challenge without 'Your try'!
b) with Your original code? ... anyway, there is great loop!
At least 4 rows are missing!
