How to protect data once it is entered in a cell

Hi all,

I have one excel sheet and it is protected. Only few cells are editable. Once the user enters a value in cell, it should be locked. No editing of the same should be allowed. In other words, User should be allowed to enter data only once in a cell. Is it possible in excel?
Please offer your suggestions.

Regards
M. Suresh

Hi Sir,

It really solved my problem. But could you please tell me how you did that. Is it possible to do the same without macros? Is there any formula based appoach for achieving the same?

Hi,

Steps...
  1. Select the cells u want to lock
  2. Press Ctrl+1
  3. Goto to Protection Tab
  4. Uncheck "Locked"
  5. Press Ok
Now Copy that code in that sheet module & check...

As far as i know it can't be achieved without VBA.
