LOG formula clarification

Respected Sirs,

Kindly help in understanding the below formula that is used to arrive at a factor for Price A

=H$3+I$3/10^(LOG10(A2*J$3)/K$3)

We need the same to be adapted for Price B which should be 25% less than Price A.

Thank you so much.

with regards,
thomas

Respected Sir,

We need factors for Price B just as there are factors for Price A. The factors will ensure varying prices based on Price 1. (Basically higher the Price 1 lower the factor and lower the Price 1 higher the factor).

If we multiply by 0.75 the factor will be same for all Prices.

Thanks,

with regards,
thomas

Hi Thomas ,

Can you indicate from where you got this formula ?

The formula results are entirely dependent on the values selected for H3 , I3 , J3 and K3 ; how have these values been selected ?

If you say that the Price B should be 25 % less than Price A , why not do just that , instead of using a similar formula for calculating a new factor ?

It is not correct to say that the factor will be 0.75 for all prices ; what was meant was to take the factors as 0.75 of the existing factors in the range D2 : D16 , so that when the prices in column A are multiplied by these reduced factors , the results in column C will be 25 % less than the results in column B.
